Futuro Futuro On The Red Carpet: “Loft” Range Hood in “Side Effects” Movie
Futuro Futuro’s elegant “Loft” range hood is one of the most popular choices for today’s cutting edge, minimalist kitchens. The sleek stainless-steel column, measuring only 16″ x 16″, houses a powerful 940-CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) blower, innovative Perimeter Suction System, and digital controls.
The Loft range hood is an ideal complement to the VERVE and GLAM kitchens from Minimal USA, chosen for the conversion of the “Little Red House” historic building in Downtown Manhattan.
The Location:
LITTLE RED HOUSE is a 6-story brick building in Nolita (“North of Little Italy”) neighborhood in Downtown Manhattan. In the late 19th century, the building was used as the original Brewster & Co. carriage factory and the center of America`s most important industry at the time – horse-drawn vehicles.
In 2005, this historic edifice was converted to residential units at the upper floors and commercial spaces at the ground floor, transforming the original factory into luxury condos facing the confluence of SoHo, Chinatown, Little Italy and the Lower East Side.
The Furnishings:
MINIMAL has made this historic passage not only possible but also smooth and sophisticated. Kitchens are sleek and custom-made, showing a unique commitment to detail and respect for the building’s history. The typical look of SoHo industrial spaces is brightened by the contemporary touch of the kitchen furnishings, achieving a perfect integration of the past and the present.
The VERVE and GLAM kitchens exhibit the best of MINIMAL’s Italian craftsmanship and aesthetic sensitivity, making them stand out as sculptures in the middle of bright and open lofts. Together with Bocci circular light pendants shaped like teardrops and equipped with state-of-the-art Control 4 smart-home technology, each apartment is technologically advanced and can be controlled by owners via phone or computer. Black porcelain and Bianco Borealis stone maintain an American and Italian design vocabulary.

The Fame Factor:
The VERVE kitchen designed for The Brewster Carriage House was featured in several scenes of Steven Soderbergh’s 2013 thriller “Side Effects” (83% RT rating – 7.1/10 on IMDB). The film’s star-studded cast includes Jude Law, Vanissa Shaw, Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and is critically acclaimed as “a smart, clever thriller with plenty of disquieting twists, Side Effects is yet another assured effort from director Steven Soderbergh.”
